Please pay what you can to unlock Nicki Deux’s expertise from 25 years and over 5 acres of painting participatory murals which began with her late maternal grandmother Joan’s mentorship:
Joan earned her Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design in 1989 and raised Nicole on a steady diet of Art and Design, including advocating for her granddaughter to attend public art schools in Miami from age 5-18, including the prestigious New World School of the Arts High School. Joan taught Nicole’s Junior Girl Scout troop to paint murals for a community service project in 2000, and Nicole taught her own troop to paint murals when she became a Girl Scout leader ten years later.
Nicole received a full scholarship to the Kansas City Art Institute for Illustration and earned her Master’s Degree in Design for Social Innovation and Sustainable Futures from University of the Arts London in 2021- the same year Joan passed from Parkinson’s disease.
This book is a compilation of multigenerational research and expertise from Joan’s mentorship, Nicoles experience in the mural industry, both women’s art and design degrees, and their shared love for teaching mural painting.
